- Idea: Assess how the students are conducting research.
- Objective: Assess at mid-REU if the research experience will be successful so that a course correction can be applied if needed.
- What works well: Mid-REU informal discussion of the group of REU students without the faculty mentors nor graduate students.
- What doesn’t work well: N/A.
- Assessment: Surveys and interviews conducted at the end of the REU show the impact of the mid-REU assessment.
