<Motivating Students in Research Interests is a Top Priority>
A student has a chance to work hard and do a good research only if the student is really interested in the research. Therefore we have the following suggestions.
- To know the research topic and applications well. Visit the lab of the project to see current status. To know the funding agency, if any, of the project.
- To work in a team environment. This promotes interaction and possibly increase interests. Having graduate students in the team is a big plus, very productive.
- Ongoing reporting/presentations by students can also improve research visibility and interests.
- Survey/exam related projects in other universities and in industry will help validating the research and enhance research interests.
- Short-term project combined with a long-term plan (such as after-REU research, graduate research plan, etc.)
